Total foreign direct investments (FDI) approved in the first quarter of 2011 by the four major investment promotion agencies amounted to PhP 22.0 billion, 52.8 percent lower than the FDI approved in Q1 2010. The composite leading economic indicator (LEI) rose for the fifth consecutive quarter but the upswing in the fourth quarter of 2010 continued the slowdown that started in the third quarter.
